Summertime Weight Challenges

It's summertime and never before have I seen time pass more quickly. I'm used to the summer flying by, but this is simply ridiculous. I literally feel like it is June 2nd right now, but it's the very end of July. If you're anything like me, you feel like the summer implies sweating, exercise, and loss of weight. Yet, as much as I hate to admit this, the truth for me is that the summer usually means big meals, relaxing evenings (sometimes too relaxing), and missed workouts.
I've found myself putting on some extra weight by eating more and exercising less. I'm not fat, but I find that certain parts of my body have more weight than I usually care to admit.
One thing I do is swim before work in the morning to combat the effects of my large summer meals. I have an in-ground pool at home, which makes it easy and convenient to jump in when I feel like it. I don't always make it in before work, but when I do it feels quite refreshing and is well worth it.
After swimming in the morning I often feel like I'm allowed to skip my afternoon jog, but I'm really lying to myself when I do this because I eat pretty big lunches. The end result is that I don't keep off as much weight as I could. I certainly do my best, but I usually end my days thinking that I could have taken it to a whole new level as far as my workout regimen had I pushed myself just a little bit more.
I'm on the fence about is joining the gym in my town. At face value, it seems like an easy and obvious decision - and the new gym in my hometown is certainly fantastic with movie screens and fancy new treadmills - but I just don't see myself making use of my membership. Even though it's a great deal, I just feel like I'm too overwhelmed with the plethora of responsibilities I face daily. I have an hour commute one-way to work, a family, travel plans, various obligations, a long workday, marketing for my new book, and a million other things to do.
What I can do to improve is to work out in the mornings more consistently. By eating simply twenty-five percent less food during the day and then forcing myself to go for a second-wind jog in the afternoon, I'll start to see the pounds come off. Understanding portion sizes is crucial because it is so easy to consume more than we are supposed to for our specific gender, age, weight, and activity level. Even if you consume more than 100 calories per day than you are supposed to, over a year in time you will gain 10 pounds. One hundred calories is not a lot and it is very easy to overeat. Your challenge will be understanding that 9 out of 10 times when you eat, you are actually not hungry. Here's a great tip: Organize yourself skinny. Plan out your meals and stick to the same plan until your goal is met.
Being mindful of your diet, adding in more nutritious food, changing your behavior and habits, and providing your body exactly what it needs to lose extra pounds fast and effectively is exactly what your body needs to perform at its best and get you the results you are looking for.

How To Get A More Positive Mindset


I have been a high end personal trainer for many years, the thing is though, some of my clients DON'T get the results they should.
I mean, they sign up with the intention of getting fit and losing some weight along the way, that is the most common reason for people beginning an exercise program. The trouble is weight loss can be elusive for some, some people get it whereas others really struggle with it.
The reason is that most people manage to nail the exercise bit quite easily it's only two or three thirty minute sessions a week after all. You don't need to spend 2 hours plus in the gym 4-5 times a week like some people do.
However there are some people who just can't stick to their nutrition or lifestyle goals. Basically they can't stop eating and drinking processed foods, chocolate, sweets, fizzy drinks and alcohol.
I realised a long time ago that I can't help everybody that's why I have a team of people around me. I have a physio, a GP, an endocrinologist, acupuncturist a few masseurs, an osteopath and more recently a COUNSELLOR.
When people can't overcome a problem using my normal methods, I'm the first to realise the need for a referral. When people can't manage to stop drinking, smoking eating or whatever, sometimes it takes a specialist to help "train" them and give them tools to reach their goal.
I see counselling more as coaching than therapy. You are learning to control the brain MUSCLE. Learning how to make it stronger.
This is the important bit so pay attention. I wanted to talk about your "inner voice".
The inner voice is the little voice in your head that may tell you to "have another one" or the voice which says "it doesn't matter, eat what you fancy". I'm sure you can all relate to this?
Or it maybe the voice which says "why haven't I lost weight yet?"
There is a battle going on in your brain between you and your inner voice.
I want to tell you something which can help you with the dialogue that goes on between the inner voice and you.
Never ask yourself - why haven't I or why can't I... ?
Why?
Because the only type of answer you can get from your brain is a negative one.
You: Why haven't I lost weight?
Your Brain: Because you cant stick to a diet for more than 3-4 days
You: Why can't I stick to my diet like Sharon can?
Your Brain: Because you love drinking wine
You get the point. And that gets you nowhere. The question to ask instead is How can I?
You: How can I lose weight by the summer?
Your Brain: Start to cut out the bad foods and eat natural healthy foods
You: How can I do more exercise without going to the gym?
Your Brain: Try some home exercises and shorter workouts
Make more sense? Be positive with your inner voice.
Keep asking the 'how can I' question and you'll find it far more helpful and productive in the long run. Adopting this more positive strategy will help you to reach your goals.
There is more to a healthy life than simply nutrition and exercise, your mindset is absolutely crucial, without the right mindset unfortunately it makes everything a lot harder.

6 Easy Tips For Losing Weight


It is hard to lose weight, but there are a few things you can do to help speed up the process.
I know you won't want to hear this, but the best thing to do is exercise. Even if it is just a little bit, as long as it is more movement than what you have done lately, it will help. Walk up the stairs instead of using the elevator. If you have too many floors to go up, then try walking part way up and then take the elevator.
If you live near by a store and only need to get a couple of items, then try walking instead of driving. Even better, you can ride a bike. As long as you move, it is going to help. If you have to drive, park further away from your destination than usual. That way, you will need to walk a little more to get there.
If you find that you get hungry while you are out doing errands, pack a healthy snack. Instead of buying that candy bar or little bag of chips (I am guilty of this), you can grab your snack and satisfy your hunger in a healthy way. Keep a little baggie of something like pretzel sticks in your glove compartment and you will always have a snack with you.
Working out with a friend can help too. Having someone to support and encourage you will help keep you going. It will also help if you find working out to be very boring (I do). Set a time to meet up and workout or just take a walk. If you have a friend that doesn't live close by, Skype them, it is free. You can use Skype to see and talk to each other while you do your workout. I have used Skype for this and it is very motivating to know that I don't have to workout alone. Of course this will only work if you have a webcam, but they are pretty inexpensive these days. It doesn't have to be a high quality webcam.
Drinking plenty of water everyday before a meal will make your stomach think it is full before you even finish your meal. It can also boost your metabolism, which will help you burn more fat. Plus, it has added benefits. For instance, water can help flush out your kidneys and remove toxins and it helps relieve constipation. If you don't like plain water, there are plenty of flavors you can get to add to it. You don't need to buy water bottles to use those flavorings. You can just add it to your cup of water. The best part about water is that it has zero calories.
Drinking less pop (regular and diet) can help with weight loss considerably. If you drink pop, then you can lose weight just by not drinking it or at least cutting down on it. Even if you drink diet pop, it will still keep you from losing weight. Be careful though. If you drink a lot, then you will need to cut it out slowing.
